Something that my therapist has stressed over and over is the creation of a sensory box. This is a common grounding technique that can help during panic attacks. Basically, you fill a shoebox with different things you enjoy. (ie: candy, pictures, books) When experiencing a panic attack, you can take out the box and use the things inside to help calm you down.

What I keep in my sensory box:


-coloring book

-family pictures


-fuzzy socks

-list of movies I enjoy

-list of my favorite quotations
